Here are some common stumbling blocks that people with breathing difficulties may face when it comes to exercise, and some ideas to help you overcome them:
Physical activity simply means movement of the body that uses energy. This includes going out for a walk, doing day-to-day chores that you may be able to do like laundry or grocery shopping, or riding a stationary bike. Once you find something you like that you can do, 10 minutes is all it takes to start.
Certain daily activities like walking, gardening, or climbing stairs do count. Start with what you can do—even if it’s only for 10 minutes. As you get more active, you may even find yourself feeling more energized!
Pick fun activities that you can do and that you like—swimming, dancing, walking, etc—and start by doing them just 10 minutes at a time. Every bit adds up, and doing something can be better than doing nothing. The point is to get out there and move!
