SYMBICORT: 2 puffs, twice a day, as prescribed

It is important to take SYMBICORT as prescribed by your doctor as part of your COPD treatment plan. SYMBICORT is a maintenance medication that helps significantly improve lung function, starting within 5 minutes.* Remember, SYMBICORT will not replace a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms.

SYMBICORT helps make a significant difference in breathing* so you can do more of the things you want to do.

To use SYMBICORT effectively, follow these steps:

Take 2 puffs twice a day, morning and evening, every day
Do not take more than 4 puffs per day
Do not use more than twice a day
Your inhaler should last you 30 days if you are taking 2 puffs twice a day

Refills

The actuation counter on top of your inhaler will monitor the amount of medication remaining, and help you know when it is time to refill your prescription.

While taking SYMBICORT, never use any other medicines containing a long-acting beta₂-agonist (LABA) such as formoterol or salmeterol, for any reason.

Approved Uses for COPD

SYMBICORT 160/4.5 is for adults with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. You should only take 2 inhalations of SYMBICORT twice a day. Higher doses will not provide additional benefits.

Important Safety Information about SYMBICORT for COPD

Call your doctor if you notice any of the following symptoms: change in amount or color of sputum, fever, chills, increased cough, or increased breathing problems. People with COPD may have a higher chance of pneumonia.

SYMBICORT may increase your risk of osteoporosis and some eye problems (cataracts or glaucoma). You should have regular eye exams. Thrush in the mouth and throat may occur.

Tell your doctor if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure before taking SYMBICORT. Do not use SYMBICORT with other long-acting beta₂-agonists for any reason. SYMBICORT does not replace fast-acting inhalers for sudden symptoms.
