About SYMBICORT and Asthma Medication
SYMBICORT is an asthma-controller medication
that contains 2 medicines to reduce the inflammation in your lungs and keep your airways open.
Within 15 minutes, SYMBICORT starts to improve your lung function and treat your asthma symptoms—helping
you to take control of your asthma.
Individual results may vary.
When you control your asthma symptoms with SYMBICORT, you may notice:
- You have no asthma symptoms or very few asthma symptoms throughout the day and night
- You shouldn't have to limit your activities because of asthma symptoms
- You should use less rescue medicine
SYMBICORT may be right for you if:
- You are 12 years of age or older
- Your doctor decides your asthma is not well controlled using another asthma-controller
medication
- Your doctor decides you need 2 asthma-controller medications
Of course, only your doctor can decide if SYMBICORT is right for you.
It's important to remember that as an asthma-controller medication, SYMBICORT
is not—and will not replace—a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms. If
you are taking SYMBICORT, be sure to see your health care provider if your asthma
does not improve or gets worse and tell your doctor if SYMBICORT is working for you.
When SYMBICORT is taken long term as prescribed—2 puffs twice a day (morning and
evening) every day—you can expect continued
asthma control. You should continue taking your medication as directed by your
doctor to maintain control of your asthma symptoms. Individual results may vary.
Patients who use SYMBICORT should read the SYMBICORT Medication Guide
(PDF) with each new prescription
and refill.
